Accessibility
betterput should work for everyone who wants to hear how their English sounds in meetings, including people with disabilities. This page says what we have done, how we checked it, and what we know is not there yet.
Last updated 27 September 2026.
What we aim for
We work to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, on this site and in the app at app.betterput.com. That level includes what the Israeli standard IS 5568 asks for, which is based on WCAG 2.0 AA. The site and the app are operated by Codama Advanced Engineering Inc..
What is built in
- A skip link to the main content, first in the keyboard order on every page.
- The site and the app can be used with the keyboard alone, and the focused control always shows a visible outline.
- Every page states its language and direction, so screen readers use the right voice and Hebrew reads right to left. Labels for screen readers are translated into all nine languages the product speaks.
- Text and controls meet WCAG AA contrast, in both the light and the dark theme. The theme follows your system, and you can change it in the app.
- Motion respects your system’s reduce-motion setting.
- In the app, a corrected sentence can be read aloud.
- An accessibility panel on every page — the round button on this site, the accessibility icon in the app — lets you change text size, spacing and contrast, switch to a more readable font, show a reading guide, pause animation and have text read aloud. It keeps your choices, in your language. It is an addition to the work above, not a replacement for it.
How we checked
On 27 September 2026 we ran the axe-core automated checker against WCAG 2.1 levels A and AA on the home page, pricing, the free tool, a guide, and their Hebrew versions, and in the app on the list of meetings, a full report, a new report, the profile, practice, settings and the sign-in pages, in light and dark themes. It found no issues. We also went through the site and the app with the keyboard alone.
Automated checks find only part of what can go wrong. We have not yet had the product tested by people who use a screen reader or other assistive technology every day, and we would like to.
What we know is not there yet
- The password-reset email comes from our sign-in provider’s template and is in English only.
- Checkout and the billing portal are pages run by Stripe, our payment provider. Their accessibility is theirs; we cannot change them.
- The privacy policy and the terms are in English only. This statement is in English and in Hebrew.
- The readable fonts in the accessibility panel cover the Latin alphabet. Text in Hebrew and Russian keeps the site’s own fonts.
