betterput for Zoom

betterput reads the transcripts of your Zoom cloud recordings and turns each one into a personal report: how your English read, and how you came across. Connect it once and every new meeting in English arrives by itself.

Last updated 1 October 2026.

What you need

  • A Zoom account on a paid plan, with Cloud recording on and Create audio transcript ticked (Zoom web portal → Settings → Recording).
  • Meetings you host and record to the cloud. Zoom makes the transcript after the meeting; betterput reads only meetings that have one.
  • A betterput account. The free plan is enough to connect; see pricing.
  • If your company’s Zoom admin approves Marketplace apps before people can add them, ask them to approve betterput first.

Adding betterput to Zoom

  1. Sign in at app.betterput.com and open Settings → Connections.
  2. On the Zoom card, click Connect Zoom.
  3. Zoom asks you to sign in and shows what betterput may read. Click Allow.
  4. You are back in betterput, and the Zoom card says Connected, with the Zoom account it is connected to.

If you added betterput from the Zoom App Marketplace instead, betterput opens its Settings and asks you to click Connect Zoom once more: Zoom does not tell us which betterput account the approval was for, and that click links the two.

Using it

  1. Hold your meeting in Zoom and record it to the cloud, as you normally would.
  2. Once Zoom has made the transcript, betterput finds it within fifteen minutes. Meetings in English appear on your meetings page in betterput, waiting for a report. To look sooner, click Look now on the Zoom card.
  3. Pick one and make a report. betterput recognises your lines by your Zoom name; if it cannot, it asks which speaker is you.
  4. On Pro, switch on Make a report of each new meeting by itself on the Zoom card, and every new meeting is reported as it arrives.
  5. To bring in an older meeting, click Bring in a recent meeting and pick one from your last thirty days.

A meeting you never make a report of is deleted from betterput after 14 days. Each report counts toward your plan’s monthly reports.

What betterput can see in Zoom

Three read-only permissions, and nothing else:

  • user:read:user — your Zoom name, email and user ID, so we know which lines of a transcript are yours.
  • cloud_recording:read:list_user_recordings — the list of your cloud recordings, to find new meetings.
  • cloud_recording:read:list_recording_files — a recording’s files, to download its transcript.

betterput never joins a meeting, never records anything, never downloads audio or video, and never changes anything in your Zoom account. What is kept, for how long, and who processes it is on the privacy page.

Removing betterput from Zoom

Either way works, and you can do both:

  • In betterput: Settings → Connections → Zoom → Disconnect. The connection is deleted, and so is every meeting not yet made into a report. The reports you made stay in your account.
  • In Zoom: sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace, open Manage → Added Apps, find betterput and click Remove. Zoom tells us, and we delete the connection and everything that came from Zoom: every meeting, and every report made from one.

Reports you keep stay in your betterput account until you delete them: one at a time, or all at once with Delete everything in Settings, which also disconnects every tool you connected.

When no meetings arrive

  • The meeting was not recorded to the cloud, or Create audio transcript was off: Zoom made no transcript, so there is nothing to read.
  • You attended but did not host: Zoom gives the recording to the host’s account.
  • The meeting was not in English.
  • The Zoom card says Zoom no longer accepts the connection: click Connect again.
